Swimming the English Channel

Have you always wanted to swim this iconic stretch of water or is this a spur of the moment decision?!

We offer a full discussion about this swim so you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into, before you sign up! Do you really know what’s involved? Do you have the right mental attitude? Do you have what it takes to do the physical training? Are you aware of all the costs that are involved? Are you aware of the science behind different training methods and nutritional strategies?

Our statistics are unparalleled. In 2017 alone, we coached, mentored and crewed 20 crossings, of which 18 were successful (15 solos, 3 relays) – a 90% success rate! 2018 brought another phenomenal season with 26 successful crossings (20 solos, 6 relays), including 3 world records.

Tim and Matt head up the Channel training programme. Being solo EC swimmers themselves and having many years of experience, they are able to deliver a level of empathy combined with reality. They both swam as part of the 8hr 47min relay in 2018, the fastest of the season, and pride themselves on being able to get the full potential out of each individual swimmer.

Understanding the swim and all of the different scenarios that could happen at sea is, in our experience, hugely advantageous to securing a successful and safe crossing. We discuss all aspects of the swim in detail, including, dock-side and pre-swim, probable starting time and why, tidal movements, potential swim routes and why, zones and lanes in the Channel, etc. Additionally, we have many video samples of previous swimmers to explain different scenarios. Preparation is the absolute key!

We run an extensive programme to help you with all aspects of the training and swim management, including:

  • Group Sessions
  • 1:1 Sessions
  • Personalised Training Plans
